Summer Checklist:

Eves Troughs and Downspouts

Make sure your gutters have no leaks. Use exterior grade caulking to seal and leaks or joints as necessary. Make sure downspouts extend six feet from the foundation wall of the house.

Windows and Doors

Check the caulking around windows and doors (and any surrounding flashing). Remove old cracked caulking and apply new as necessary.

Keep grading in Mind When Landscaping

If you are doing any new landscaping directly adjacent to your house (concrete walkways, driveways, interlocking stone, flagstone, etc.), be sure that the surface grade slopes at least 1/4 inch per foot away from the house to ensure rainwater drains away from the foundation.
